Established in 1995, Balshaw & Fogarty Architects, is a dynamic professional architectural firm with a history of excellence in a range of completed architectural projects.
We are medium sized architectural practice with a proven ability to mobilise resources and coordinate complex professional team structures to tackle projects of any scale and complexity. We are continually looking for ways to expand the traditional role of industrial and commercial architects in meeting the needs of clients with excellence and within pressured time frames.
We deliver buildings which reflect a balance of appropriate design philosophies, technical competence, effective project and cost management, and intimate client involvement.

With trust as a key principal in the client / architect relationship, we invest in understanding expectations with a commitment to integrity, offering a professional architectural service in line with principles of best practice.
ARCHITECTURE
Whilst acknowledging contemporary architecture and modern materials, we are not bound by stylistic concerns. We believe in appropriate architecture and specific solutions incorporating historic and environmental sensitivity.
ARCHITECTS SERVICES
We offer full or partial architectural services as defined in the South African Institute of Architects standard Client / Architect Agreement:
1. Architect and Principal Consultant
- Separate Principal Agent appointed.
2. Design Architect and design consultant
- Full design service, separate architect of record and principal agent.

- Scope of architects services to be defined before architect's service commences.
3. Architect of record and principal consultant
- Partial architects services commencing from detailed design

4. Architect as Principal Agent
- Partial architects services in documentation and tender procurement
- Full architects service in contract administration.
5. Architects and Principal Consultant
- Partial architectural service to local authority submission
Our experience exceeds the standard architectural services outlined by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) and the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA),
We are experienced in the popular JBCC 2000 series and other forms of building contract. Our standard service includes appointment as Principal Agent.
We have worked closely with property developers and landowners to facilitate management and maintenance of buildings.
ARCHITECTS FEE STRUCTURE
Our architectural fees based on the South African Institute of Architects Recommended Tariff of fees, are tailored for project specific fee structures to suit individual clients.
